Go With Elmo podcast
Check out my interview with my cousin Elmo on his podcast, Go With Elmo. This was our first time ever doing something like this together. A 3-hour deep dive interview that covers (nearly) his entire career. We go into our family history, growing up in Cleveland, our Sicilian roots, my father Tony “Big T” Lovano, and how that shaped my sound and spirit. We talk about my time with Elvin Jones, Jack DeJohnette, John Scofield, Charlie Haden, Esperanza Spalding, Michael Brecker, McCoy Tyner, Paul Motian, Bill Frisell, Hank Jones, Dave Holland, Joshua Redman, Al Foster, and many more. I reflected on decades of leading bands, developing tone, mentoring young players, and living a full creative life with my wife of 50 years, Judi Silvano.

Joe Lovano: Family and Friends
Renowned saxophonist and Cleveland native, Joe Lovano, returns for a special celebration of his father, the Tony "Big T” Lovano Centennial Concert Celebration, with Anthony Lovano, Pat Lovano, Laura-Jo Fiorilli, Judi Silvano. Honoring the Cleveland Jazz Legacy! This afternoon's performance will also feature a host of other talent from around Cleveland.
In conjunction with this concert, Joe is establishing The Tony "Big T" Lovano Cleveland Jazz Legacy Scholarship, an endowed fund in memory of his father to support merit-based scholarships for students in the “J@MS” (Jazz at The Music Settlement) program. J@MS trains young musicians in theory, history, and musicianship while giving them the opportunity to perform in dynamic big bands and small combos at Cleveland’s 113-year old nonprofit music school. Through its Center for Music, The Music Settlement provides accessible, life-enhancing music and arts experiences to people of all ages and abilities. Lovano’s endowment will help expand this mission and support students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.
All ticket proceeds and donations associated with this event will go toward helping establish this scholarship. This concert is SOLD OUT, but please join us for the livestream! Homage Review from jazz.pt
"Os quatro músicos surgem dotados de um espírito especialmente aventureiro neste que é o seu segundo trabalho conjunto para a editora de Manfred Eicher. Com base nos pontos fortes líricos da gravação anterior do grupo (“Arctic Riff”, de 2020), em “Homage” o quarteto vai além disso, investigando a interação livre e passagens expansivas de improvisação que se tornaram um elemento básico nas experiências de Lovano com o trio Tapestry."

"a masterclass in free-flowing spontaneity"
"This is an album of real chemistry, one where the key ingredients of rhythmic freedom, variety of expression and interplay come together so well you want to repeat the experience immediately. Lovano has delivered a masterclass in free-flowing spontaneity. Absolutely recommended."
