Hey there,

This spring and summer was a time of Reflection & Projection for me. All aspects of my life and music were focused on meditation and celebration. I found myself in a flowing state of mind, composing and working out ideas on the various instruments within the woodwind family that I embrace.

Between March and September I wrote a number of tunes and wanted to have an outdoor session in the pine trees on our property. I decided to invite John Menegon on bass and Lamy Istrefi on drums to play through some ideas I was working on.

I thought this was a moment I should document, so I contacted my close friend and filmmaker Michael Kelly to join the session and asked John to bring his recording gear. With social distancing and wearing masks when we weren’t playing, we got together on Sept 7th and recorded eight pieces. It turned out to truly be a celebration of Life & Music!

After working on post production with Michael’s footage and the audio recordings, I decided to release one piece every few weeks or so starting this Thanksgiving Week. Giving thanks as a document of this defining moment in our collective history in the universe and a springboard into tomorrow.

First up is “All As One” – the embrace and acceptance of all things, written March 19, 2020.

Saluti…. Joe
